That was the reaction I got when I rejected plans for the weekend.
Still, three days of semi-seclusion, BYOB (we brought more than enough) and access to a rooftop pool at almost all hours? Sounds like a GREAT idea. Sounds better than marooning yourself on a remote island for 3 days .
The thing is, the place was chosen mainly for the birthday boy. This dog's priorities would be liver, milk and swimming in that order. Since three days of liver and milk would be out of the question for the humans we decided to compromise and let him enjoy #3. His younger brother gets to enjoy the spill-over benefits of this arrangement.
I was invited both as 24/3 (well it was 3.5 days) paparazzi and a pool party guest. Since I was mixing business with pleasure for this, I'd damn well better enjoy the heck out of it too.
*Warning* Extremely photo intensive.
We arrived and checked in at about 2.30pm. First stop? Where else?
He does find mommy when he is "done" though
A quick dinner for both humans and dogs.
We got up SUPER early to catch the sunrise but the weather had other plans. Still swimming we still went.
The birthday boy had the treat n the form of a custom made birthday burger from the nice folks at Handle Bar! The place was amazingly dog friendly, both the staff and patrons welcomed them!https://www.facebook.com/HandlebarSG/
What else to do after the sun goes down but.. SWIM! With the pool lights, the little compact camera I brought performed admirably given the challenging conditions.
Despite the already almost 5 hours of swimming they had already done, the two Labs could not get enough of the water.
The actual birthday for Flapper. His "girlfriend" paid him a surprise visit and turned up in a very pool appropriate outfit.
The afternoon continued on with Flapper entertaining the guests.
What's a birthday without a date and a cake?
We had a 1/2 day left before checkout. Frodo decided that today would be his birthday since his brother had his one yesterday.
Yeap just lots more tennis balls and swimming.
We wrapped up the stay with a fun little swimming competition as we were just coming off the high from Singapore's Olympic swim win...
Despite the sunburns, over 20 hours of pool time and tiredness of running around with three dogs all day, it's knowing that the dogs had a good time that makes it all worth while.
As for me I am thankful to be part of this wonderful staycation.
For now I think I want to join Flapper on the couch and resume the nap.
